Almost There.

Thinking of being there is delightful.

Planning on getting there is easy enough. Packing for there is a happy chore. Boarding the plane for there is exciting. Getting on the connecting airplane for there is a countdown. Being stuck on the runway for there, while you wait for a storm to pass through here, when you only have 36 minutes left in the flight, and you're almost there; is agonizing.

Almost there.

The words every kid has heard their exasperated parents say on just about every destination they’ve traveled. “Almost there” was the final nugget that was offered when no treats were left to calm the excitement, or tame the boredom of the journey.

Almost there is the bridge from where you left to where you’re going.

It’s the promise that whatever you’re feeling in this moment will soon expire, and if you can just hold on for a little bit longer, you will be there.

Once there, almost there, becomes so faded a memory, that it can be categorized as forgotten.

And now that we’re here, I’m almost there.
